There are an endless number of very worthy cause to which one can donate funds, however, my brother's fiance' is a Medivac Blackhawk driver (currently deployed) in Afghanistan and risks her life with every flight. As such, we have special place in our hearts for the Medivac crews such as Air 1. For that reason and as thanks for the ICE support of www.DoorDevil.com, we have donated $100 to AIR 1 Foundation. We truly applaud and appreciate your efforts and the service you provide.

I fully support this multi aspect operation. I served for 3 years providing medivac as a flight paramedic in the U.K and can wholeheartledly testify to the positive impact this unit can have for the communities it serves.
Support Air 1 now rather than find yourselves, or your loved ones in a situation where you 'wish' you had!
In terms of financial value; if you establish the cost to society of the loss of its citizen, through disability or life lost, research demonstrates that just dealing with 4-6 casualties per year can justify investments made.
Of course the impact is wider than for an individuals outcome, or that of financial matters; it also reduces emotional distress suffered by those whose loved ones are affected by their oft feeling of guilt - at not being empowered to have made a difference!
Air 1, ice4safety, our ICE friends around the world and myself, as founder and director of ICE - In Case of Emergency, all share a commonality in the difference we can make, for the benefit of all. Will you join us?

Very impressed with the efforts to keep Air 1 doing exactly what we need it for. It a shame that this even has to be done, but with the efforts of the community and WAVES, I'm confident Air 1 will be able to continue servicing our people.

>If fire departments folks were looking for another way to raise awareness as well as some additional supporting funds they could suggest an optional "Adoption Fee" (say $5) for local citizens who wanted to participate in the program......people want to get more than a donation envelope in the mail....especially nowadays.

>When seconds count, having a hydrant shoveled ahead of time can make a difference. Our engines carry 1000 gallons of water, but at 200 gallons per minute, that means I have less than 5 minutes of water on board. I will tell my men to start making their way out at a quarter tank (250 gallons) if we don't have water on the way from the hydrant. I have to ensure their safety first. Under good conditions (i.e. a warm summer afternoon) it can take 3 1/2 to 4 minutes to hook-up to a hydrant; do you really want us wasting time to shovel around your hydrant, or would you rather have us inside saving your life and property?George Barrett, LtCicero (NY) Fire Dept

>Another ICE supporter suggested you add a laminated ICE Card or ICE Decal to your bag(s) for easy identification. Good idea actually. Having this affixed will reinforce the idea and your practiced drills each time you see it and support rapid recognition in the exigent fire evacuation situation.
