No need to agonize over when/if some seminar or class is coming to your town to learn about organizing a basic evacuation survival kit for yourself and family members….. you can start here using our new Visual BOB© picture based system. There won’t be any more confusion like those vague government recommendations for “sturdy shoes” or water containers.
We do this for free as always and will be expanding the concept to include other kit types of a very practical nature. There will be some multiple selections for types of gear but you won’t see any junk. We don’t use any and can’t recommend it. Keep junk at home in a barter box to give to others who come calling and you need to get rid off quickly because they are idiots and a drag. So consider foregoing the purchase of that state of the art must have gizmo or tv and invest in some upgraded survival gear and some new skills. You can’t take everything with you but with the right gear and preplanning and practice you can optimize what you find along the way.
We will announce any specials offers from the vendors as well if they offer them. One already applies – 5% off using ICE as a discount code at CampingSurvival.com We will be making some seasonal adjustments to the kit as well. Clothing should be useful for the coming 3 months and durable. You won’t be fitting everything in a bag that you may likely have to lug around for MILES and DAYS, so maybe leave your satellite and computer gear at home….it is called “survival” not “comfort”. You’ll soon figure it out as you dump heavy and now useless gear along your path. You want electronics? Get a HAM license and get a good radio…you can do all your communications from that medium including radio, cell phone, internet and GPS positioning….to name just a few.
There are just so many good reasons for everyone to do it themselves. Critical ”Hands On” experience will force you to learn more about your kit, the functioning of the gear and provide your family evacuation plan some added flexibility. When there are things happening you can’t control you need to be prepared to prevail in as many situations as you can. The time to prepare is now – before the siren blares!
Remember - plan on being just an “Evacuee” not a Refugee!
We have assembled pictures of gear to illustrate what you might include in a kit of your own making – you need to decide what you can afford and what you might already own or can substitute. There are many outlets where you can find this gear – we make mention of them in our comments when you mouse over the pictures.
